The finest affordable authentic Italian restaurant in Denver is Chow Morso Osteria. This fabulous eatery is located on the corner of 15th & Wynkoop in the Union Station neighborhood.

My Favorite Dishes at Chow Morso Osteria: Arancini, Gnocco Fritto, Carbonara, Tagliatelle, Agnolotti, Gnocchi, Piadina Light Lunch & the Seasonal Fruit Crisp.

A casual version of its well known Denver sister restaurant Barolo Grill. The concept is more approachable on the wallet than its sibling, but food and service are exceptional!

AMBIANCE

Chow Morso Osteria’s décor is modern. Slightly edgy, but warm and inviting with a mix of exposed wood beams and old brick walls.

They have four seating options: a stunning dining room, a horseshoe bar with an exquisite chandelier, a pasta chefs counter surrounded by glass looking into the kitchen, an a cute petite patio to take in the beautiful Colorado sunshine and dine al fresco.

Although the space is charming, the food is the star of the show starting with the antipasti course!

IN ITALY, THEY ADD

TO FOOD AND WINE.

ANTIPASTI

Chow Morso Osteria Arancini are lightly fried risotto balls with fontina cheese. Served with a spicy tomato sauce and basil-pistachio pesto.
The Arancini is a MUST TRY!

Arancini

I order the Arancini every time I come to Chow Morso! Stuffed inside is saffron & fontina cheese that holds it all together, but doesn’t overwhelm the risotto. The rice balls are then coated in breadcrumbs and lightly fried to perfection!

Served with a spicy red arrabiata sauce that take your palate through many progressions in one delicious bite. Italian comfort food at its best!

Gnocco Fritto

Another canapé I really adore is the Gnocco Fritto. Scrumptious fluffy focaccia puff pastry topped with punchy horseradish cream & heavenly sliced prosciutto.

This anitipasti made DiningOut.com “The Best Dishes We Ate in 2018” list. FYI if you want to try these savory puffs they are only available on the dinner menu.

Date Night Denver Tip: Chow Morso Osteria is only blocks from several top Denver sights: Coors Field, Pepsi Center, Museum of Contemporary Art & Union Station. It’s the perfect eatery for a delicious meal before or after catching a game or concert. Date night at home? They do tasty curbside takeout too!

Chow Morso has the BEST

classic Italian Carbonara

I’ve had in my entire life!

PRIMI

As good as the antipasti selection is it’s the house-made pastas you don’t want to miss! My favorite entree at Chow Morso Osteria is their Carbonara.

The BEST Carbonara I’ve ever had is at Chow Morso Osteria in Denver, CO!
The BEST Carbonara I’ve had in my life!

Carbonara

When this immortal first dish arrived at the table, I could not wait to enjoy this delightful bowl of rich Spaghetti alla Carbonara!

The joy I receive from cracking the hot golden farm fresh egg over the top of the noodles, melting the big chunks of shaved parmigiana cheese. Crisp rosy bits of pancetta. Everything precisely seasoned with ground black pepper.

Chow Morso has the BEST classic Italian Carbonara I’ve had in my entire life! It’s so divine it made my list of “The Best Dishes I’ve Ever Eaten.” I implore you to order this dish. It’s that good.

The Agnolotti at Chow Morso Osteria in Denver, CO is made with a traditional Italian sage brown butter sauce.

Agnolotti

Another incredible specialty is the excellent house-made Agnolotti. Small pieces of perfectly pinched pouches of pasta stuffed with a delectable dollop of ground beef. Served in a traditional delicious sage brown butter. I love how the edges of the Agnolotti catch the luscious sauce. Authentic Italian at its very best!

DOLCI

Seasonal Apple Fruit Crisp

To conclude a flawless meal my server recommended the seasonal apple fruit crisp. OMG! The crumble on top is to die for! The vanilla gelato melts over the cap of the crisp. Farm fresh apples mixed with cinnamon & spices. It tasted like an Italian Nonna made it!

The Wine Display at Chow Morso Osteria in Denver, CO
Chow Morso Osteria’s wine display

Not only is the food delicious, but the service is also outstanding! When the manager saw me taking a picture of their beautiful wine wall display he said “Let me take you behind the scenes so you can see the whole selection.”

The wine was impeccably organized and their selection is impressive. It’s these kind of touches that leave a lasting impression to an excellent dinner.

The meal was perfection. One of the best I’ve had in a while. All their flavors played harmoniously together. Chow Morso Osteria is sophisticated Italian comfort food that I will keep coming back to for a long time. Buon appetito!

Bonus Tip: Make sure you don’t miss Denver’s iconic Union Station, which is only two blocks away from Chow Morso Osteria. This historical hot spot is perfect for pre or post dinner cocktails that can extend those romantic evenings you just don’t want to end! I highly recommend swanky The Cooper Lounge that overlooks the inside of Union Station. Or grab a drink from The Terminal Bar, and find a plush sofa to sit and people watch in the sophisticated communal area.
